 Kerri Gibbs
began her career in Australia as a freelance painter for the advertising
industry, winning international awards and being commissioned by clients
such as Disney, BMW, Ford, Citibank, Revlon, Phillip Morris, Mercedes-Benz,
and the Australia Post. In 1992, art buyers began representing Gibbs
in the publishing industry for clients such as Double Day, Harlequin,
Ballantyne Books, and Bradford Exchange.Though successful in the advertising realm, Gibbs was inspired by figurative art, and simultaneously began to establish herself in the field of portraiture. By 1995, she had moved to New York and was granted permanent residency in the United States for 'extraordinary ability'. Gibbs studied at the Drawing School of the Atlantic in New York City, gaining more experience and developing her ever-increasing talent. Throughout the past years, Gibbs' 'extraordinary ability' has indeed been noticed, gaining her recognition and winning her many exquisite commissions. Gibbs states that her intention as an artist is to paint from her inner self, 'portraying the highest qualities, capturing the essence of a person particularly through the mystique of the eyes'. Her primary dedication is to her flourishing portrait career, remaining busy pleasing her clients with exciting and 'alive' portrayals of loved ones.
