Born in
Riverside California, Bart Lindstrom was raised to appreciate the
outdoors and art. Although he loved to paint, his father counseled
him to study business. After graduating from the University of Southern
California with a degree in business marketing, he started to work
in an advertising firm, but not in the creative department located
across the hall.
Realizing that this was not at all what he loved to do and with additional
studies at the Art Center in Pasadena, he started to frame paintings
for friends and others and paint a little on his own. After moving
to Texas and selling limited editions of his watercolors, the work
of Mr. Lindstrom started to take off. Later on in his career, and
after moving to Chattanooga, in part for his deaf son Todd, he started
to do more and more oil paintings and portraits, which is currently
his primary medium.
Along the way, Bart, has taught graduate art at the University of
Texas, lectured and demonstrated with Daniel Greene and Nelson Shanks
at the American Society of Portrait Artists Portrait Art Festival,
taught at John Howard Sanden's Master class at the Art Student's League
in New York City, and at the National Portrait Seminar. He is a nationally
recognized artist, conference speaker, former board member of the
American Society of Portrait Artists, and cofounder of the Portrait
Society of America.
His paintings hang in State capitals and Federal courtrooms. Among
his prominent collectors are: United States senators William Armstrong
and Jesse Helms, Tennessee Governor Ned McWherter, Roots author, Alex
Haley, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, pro-golfer Nancy
Lopez, Vice-president Dan Quayle, and Secretary of State, General
Colin Powell.
Mr. Lindstrom's oeuvres are also in many private and corporate collections,
and he has exhibited in solo and group shows in galleries and museums
across the United States and Canada. His work has appeared in various
publications, including Southwest Art, Prints Magazine, Art Voice/South,
American Artist magazine, and International Artist magazine.
A feature article in Southwest Art magazine stated: "Bart Lindstrom
is an artist who exhibits a rare quality in revealing the inner essence
of his subjects. He seems to have exploited the medium to its utmost
possibilities."
