Upon his first visit Mr. Lindstrom spends time talking with the client
and together they look through his reference portfolio of portraits
and photos. This step helps the artist understand the client's likes,
desires, and needs.
Mr. Lindstrom then does some quick "idea sketches" for composition
and poses. Once client and artist agree on the direction of the painting,
Mr. Lindstrom then uses his camera to record various poses and expressions
along with the sketches and color notes. This usually requires a full
morning or afternoon.
In the following weeks, Bart sends the client a more detailed sketch
accompanied by a selection of recommended photographs. After the client
approves the composition, Mr. Lindstrom then paints a small painting
for color and values. This small study shows the client the feeling
and mood of the proposed portrait. This gives the client a good idea
of the artist's direction in the creative process and gives opportunity
for input before Bart begins the portrait.
Upon delivery the client will have the option of a final sitting for
minor corrections and changes. The entire process of creating the
portrait, from first sketch to delivery, usually requires six to ten
months.
All prices and procedures are subject to change. |
