Patricia
Haskins McWilliams is a nationally known, award winning portrait artist
whose professional painting career spans over thirty years. A graduate
of the University of North Alabama, she studied under renowned portrait
artist John Howard Sanden, and other prominent artists throughout
the country. She is a member of the Portrait Society of Amercia and
the Portrait Institute of New York. Her portraits hang in private
and public collections in Europe and throughout the United States.
McWilliams paints her subjects in oil with a style of impressionistic
realism that lends itself to a natural portrayal of personality
and likeness. Her work ranges from formal portraits of the judiciary
and university presidents to the informal scenes of her very young
subjects who seem intent on serious play or in reflective moods.
McWilliams' uncommon rapport with children allows her to enter into
their world. The result is a breathtakingly lovely representation
of those moments recorded on canvas for posterity. She is demanding
and giving of portrayal of the subject.
